From the Superintendent’s Desk

September 2019

As we enter our first full month of school, I hope each student and family has had an enjoyable start to the 2019-2020 school year!  As I have visited the schools, I have seen many positive indications that this is going to be a great school year!  If there is an early concern by you or your child, I encourage you to make early contact with the school so the concern can be addressed.  Please do not wait until parent-teacher conferences to address a concern that needs to be addressed now.

September will bring many activities in each of the buildings.  It is always exciting to see students perform outside of the classrooms.  We have great community support for all of our student activities.  The students do their very best to represent our community when participating in an activity.  If you have time, please strive to come support our students in the variety of activities that they will be participating in throughout the year. Our first main activity is a tradition that was started 5 years—The All-School Pep Assembly. It is so awesome to see our entire student body cheering on ‘The Diggers.” AND, we are inviting the entire Wilburton Community to join us. Friday, September 6, 2019 at the WHS gym.

We continue to put a major emphasis on student and school safety.  At our Professional Development Day on Friday, September 27, our employees will be attending our Safe School Committee Meetings along with training sessions in Child Abuse Awareness/Human Trafficking, Suicide Recognition, Drug-Alcohol Awareness, and Students Mental Health Needs. We want to make sure our schools are as safe and secure as we can possibly make them for each student and staff member throughout the year.

I hope families were able to enjoy the Labor Day Weekend festivities. We have a great community that has been a strong supporter of education and learning for over 100 years…..your continued support is always appreciated!
