“Perhaps we come home the way the earth comes home to the sun. It could be that homecoming is always a return and our understanding of home deepens with each encounter.” Christie Purifoy
Welcome back Wilburton High School Alumni for our tradition of joining together each year on Easter Weekend to renew past friendships, relive past memories, and honor our school. Please make plans to come and celebrate with us.
Besides our Saturday night banquet, pancake breakfast, and various class reunions, we have planned a very special event for this alumni weekend. I am excited to tell you that the first phase of our new elementary is nearing completion, and we will be hosting our first Open House for the new Classroom Building on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 9-12. All community members and alumni are invited to attend and see the new classroom facility that this great community has provided for our young people. The staff and teachers of Wilburton Elementary will be there to give tours. As I mentioned last year, the design for our new elementary complex was created with the idea of cherishing the past while successfully moving into the future. The second phase of our project will begin shortly which includes some demolition and renovation of the buildings across the street. Please stop by on Saturday morning.
This year we will graduate and welcome as new alumni 72 seniors. They have been the leaders for one of the greatest years ever in Wilburton Public School history. In fact, there have been so many accomplishments that there is not enough room to list them all. Truly, we have had a magical year at Wilburton Public Schools. The graduation of this senior class will leave a huge void, but I am proud to say they will be WHS Alumni.
Once again, welcome home. Please come by and visit the school especially for our Open House; we would love to see you.
Dr. Trice Wallace Butler (’66) Superintendent Wilburton Public Schools
