Wilburton Public Schools Presents:

Student Alumni Spotlight

Michalina Sokolosky – Class of 2014

I am a 2014 graduate of Wilburton High School. I was a member of the women’s basketball team, yearbook staff, NHS, and student council. In my senior year, I was crowned the football homecoming queen.

I received a scholarship to play basketball at EOSC, where I earned my Associates’s Degree. I then went on to SOSU in Durant, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Science and worked a full-time job in the Budget and Compliance department with the Choctaw Nation. I planned on staying there, but life had different plans.

I bought my first house in McAlester where I currently live. I am now in my 5th year of teaching. I teach middle school math and science at Carlton Landing Academy, along with PE in the afternoons. I am also the director of our afterschool program. I am currently working towards a Master in Business Administration.

Outside of teaching, I spend most of my time traveling or finding DIY projects around my house. My biggest goal in life is to make a positive impact on my students (and others), the same way my teachers made for me.
