October 2021 – I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

October 2021

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” — L.M. Montgomery

As we continue to work diligently to keep our students in school, five days a week, I’d like to
thank our faculty and staff for their dedication, patience, and flexibility.  As a lifelong educator,
I’ve never been more proud of a group of faculty and staff. While visiting our schools across the
district, I have witnessed tremendous efforts by our employees day after day.  I can assure you
that we are doing everything possible to provide our students with high level instruction and
engaging learning opportunities under very difficult circumstances.

I would also like to thank our parents, guardians and greater community for their unwavering support and encouragement
throughout the pandemic. It truly does make a difference, especially for our staff that are on the
front lines day in and day out helping us navigate a reasonable path forward.

Fall activities are underway. The high school and middle school softball teams, football teams
and cross country teams have all been in action. On October 8, we will celebrate our annual
homecoming with a parade in the afternoon and the football game that evening against the Hugo
Buffaloes.

We have some of the finest facilities in the area. Several of our facilities had upgrades over the
summer including the softball and baseball fields, elementary and high school gymnasium floors,
WHS Marching Band trailer, and overhead coverings and fencing at WES.

Thank you for supporting this great school community! Even though we are in trying times, by
working together, we will get through this. We have a lot to be proud of in Wilburton! Keep it
up! Go Diggers!
