Notice: Confirmed case of COVID-19 in our school

Wilburton Public Schools (WPS) was notified this evening that an elementary student has tested positive for COVID-19. There is also a possibility of a positive case at Wilburton High School, but the details are unclear and the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) was closed today and unavailable to provide guidance. In an effort to contact trace, disinfect, and receive proper guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Wilburton Public Schools will be transitioning to district-wide distance learning on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13. The OSDH and WPS will perform contact tracing and will be communicating with you if your child was within 6ft for 15 minutes of a positive COVID-19 case.

Wilburton Public Schools will be using these days to gather information and make decisions concerning in-person learning and a safe return to school. Curbside meal pick-up will be available for all WPS students Thursday and Friday between 11:30am and 12:30pm at the west end of the Elementary School Auditorium. We are following CDC guidelines and protocols set by the OSDH and in our WPS Re-Opening Plan that the district implemented on the first day of school policies and procedures to decrease potential spread between classes.
