September 2020 – Class Is In Session

“All at once, summer collapsed into fall.” Oscar Wilde

We are off and running with the start of the school year. This is a year like no other, and I think we will see many changes as the year progresses. We will continue to follow all CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting in each building. We encourage all of you to continue following the CDC’s recommendations to remain healthy and well and to visit our school’s guidelines Journey to Learning found on our homepage.

Fall sports have gotten underway. The high school softball team is seeing improvement week after week. We are 3-1 in district play and looking forward to an exciting rest of the season. The varsity football team hosted Pocola for our opening game and scored a BIG win. All of our September football games are at home, so we hope to see you there. On September 11, we play Keys High School, and our pre-game activities will be In Remembrance of 9/11. The boy’s and girl’s cross-country teams have competed in several meets and have brought many medals home. Our middle school teams are also in action for all of the sports listed above. Good luck to all of our fall sports teams.

We have some of the finest facilities in the area. This is not done on accident. We have had many employees working hard over the summer preparing for the 2020-21school year. We had building and grounds workers, kitchen staff, custodians, secretaries, and others working hard for the start of the school year! A big thank you to all those people that had things up and running and looking fantastic on the first day!

Thank you for supporting this great community! Even though we are in trying times, by working together, we will get through this. We have a lot to be proud of in Wilburton! Keep it up! Go Diggers!

“Make it a September to Remember!”
