From the Superintendent’s Desk
We have officially finished classes for the 2015-16 school year and graduated a unique and exceptional senior class on Saturday evening, May 14, 2016. As they move into the next exciting chapter of their lives, we wish them the very best and know that their accomplishments will be many.
This year has been one of incredible achievements for Wilburton Public Schools in all areas. I continue to be amazed at the dedicated work of our students and staff. For all of these endeavors, I am extremely grateful and proud.
This year has also marked a very trying time for Oklahoma Public Education due to the state’s revenue failure. Every public school received budget cuts in February and April, and one is still anticipated in June. Financially, these are difficult days, and tough decisions regarding cuts must be made by all school districts including Wilburton. We are diligently working to try and keep these necessary cuts as limited as possible.
Finally, I believe Wilburton Public Schools has the most supportive community in Oklahoma. Our citizens believe in our young people and are always willing to do whatever is possible to help make their futures better. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Wishing each of you a fun and restful summer.
