November Update

Our 2015 fall season, here at Wilburton Public schools, is rapidly coming to an end, and winter is approaching.  In the past three months, we have had some wonderful experiences, great news, and proud moments. It is such an honor to lead this school.

In October we received our Oklahoma School Report Cards:

Wilburton Elementary School --- A-

Wilburton Middle School --- A

Wilburton High School --- B+

These grades place Wilburton School District as the second highest school district in Class 3A and in the top 15 of all school districts in the state. Wilburton Middle School is the highest ranking middle school in the Southeast Quadrant and in Class 3A. It is #5 in the entire state for Student Performance. Our students, principals, teachers, staff, and parents have all diligently worked together to prepare our student body for the rigorous testing and results that these report cards reflect.  Great News and Proud Moments!!!

I hope many of you were able to see at least one of our 2015 football games. If so, then you already know that Coach Buckner and his staff have made a great turn-around in our program. Thank you to the players and coaches for your dedication and hard work. It is exciting to watch, and the future looks very bright. Also, at the games we got to have our first look at the 2015 Digger Pride Marching Band. They are sooooo good!! Mr. Littlejohn and his students are becoming the shining stars of the band world. And of course what’s a football game without cheerleaders especially if they are great cheerleaders, and ours are. Led by a talented group of seniors and their sponsors Mrs. Brinlee and Mrs. Goddard, these beautiful young ladies changed the CROWD spirit factor for our team. The stands were full, standing, and cheering. Thank you ladies. Wonderful experiences. Great news. Proud Moments.

Our ladies fast-pitch softball team consistently stayed in the top 15 of our class for the entire season, and although the playoffs did not go exactly how we had planned, these coaches and young ladies have much to look forward to next season. The team returns all starters but two: seniors Molly and Emily Sharp. Thank you Coach Lowder and Coach Mabry for an excellent season.  Wonderful Experiences.

Mr. Bockus, Mrs. Baker, and Ms. Kendrick have our high school and middle school academic teams continuing our winning traditions, and we are excited to see how they compete in the state playoffs. Our drama and vocal students were showcased in their presentation of Shrek: The Musical. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Reinhardt, along with their students, spent many, many hours of work on this production, and it paid off! Great Job. Won derful Experiences.

Finally, I am so pleased to announce that the School Board has awarded the bid for construction of our new elementary to Turn Key Construction of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Hopefully, we will break ground in the next two weeks. Great News! Proud Moments!
